1796
A lot happened about the globe during the Regency. A world war was fought to conclusion. Kings and countries rose, and fell. The true years of the Regency are from 1811 to 1820, yet the period is more than those years. The Era comprises historical events and cultural events. It is more than just the ten years when George, ‘Prinny’, filled in for his father who had gone mad. The first notice that George the III had problems was in 1788. The last of George III’s rule and that of his sons was in 1837 when Victoria became Queen.
The Timeline was composed from several sources, one of which is from noted regency romance author Candace Hern. Additional resources such as the Chronology of Culture, What Happened When and The timetables of history have been used to supply over six thousand entries.
